We have many high school band activities coming up. Please mark your
calendars for summer practices and band camp listed below.

May 27 -- play at commencement at the Knapp Center at Drake University (
2:00 pm)  Kids need to be ready to leave the High School band room at
11:30 AM, dressed in nice clothes. They will be bussed to the Knapp
Center.

May 29 -- play at Memorial Day service at Waukee Cemetery (10:00)
Kids need to be dressed in uniforms and ready to board the busses at 9:15
AM.   PLEASE - be sure kids eat some breakfast and drink water before
coming.  (We've had trouble with kids getting light-headed at this event)
   Roadie help will be needed to help with uniforms & plumes, load water
and some equipment.  When we return to the school after the event, help
will be needed to pull the uniforms out of their bags and get ready to go
to the cleaners. 

June 1 -- Incoming Freshman Parent's Night, 7 pm - 8:15 pm.  Students &
parents will hear expectations for High School Band.

June 7 -- Band Parents host the Ice Cream social on the lawn of Waukee
Elementary.  Enjoy home made ice cream and desserts 6:30 - 7:30 pm.  
Donations and set up begin at 6:00 pm.  Contact Beth Baumeister if you

Summer Band Rehearsals   June 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29  from 7 pm -
8:15 pm.  The band will be working on fundamentals and memorization of
music for the fall's marching program.  Students are required to attend. 
Any concerns about attendance should be addressed to Mr. Patterson or Mr.
Page.

July 4 -- the band will march in Waukee's July 4th parade -- time to be
announced.

Band Camp, July 31st - August 4th, 8:00 am - 3:30 pm.   Students will be
learning the drill for the fall marching program.  It is very important
for all students to be there. Please plan work schedules and vacations
around this week.  Any concerns should be addressed to Mr. Patterson or
Mr. Page.
