[News] Special Band Parent Meeting and 1st Planning Meeting for State M arching Contest and Waukee Marching Invitational- Thursday July 27th at 7 :00 PM - Location to be Determined

I am calling a special Band Parent meeting to discuss the possible purchase
of a trailer to be used to transport and store the Warrior World merchandise
to the sites that the Warrior World merchandise is sold when Warrior World
is on the road - football stadium, the Elementary schools, Middle School,
Prairieview and High School (for back to school night and Parent/Teacher
conferences), Farmers Market, etc.  The Warrior World managers have found a
trailer that they feel would be meet the need and would like to present this
to the organization.  A little information on the trailer - it is a 7' x 10'
drop axle trailer with a wood frame building bolted onto the trailer deck.
The person selling it purchased the trailer less than a year ago and built
the frame building on it this spring, he is in the process of adding wiring
for lights inside the trailer.  He is selling his business and that is why
the trailer is for sale.

Cost of the trailer would be $2,500 and it would be available by September
1st.  The Mackey's have said that they could arrange for storage in an
enclosed barn for free.  Other expenses would be license and insurance and
adding some shelving and either painting or weatherproofing the outside wood
on the trailer.

Since this is outside the purchase of musical equipment I wanted to have a
meeting so people could discuss this purchase - the purchase of a trailer
for Warrior World has been mentioned in the past and an opportunity has
presented itself and we can not wait until the next Band Parent Meeting to
discuss this as the trailer may be gone by then.  As many of you know
Warrior World has been a good fundraiser for the organization bringing in
around $10,000 a year the last couple of years and the transporting of the
merchandise is to be a lot of work with having to haul it in a pickup, van
or car.


State Marching Band Festival and Waukee Marching Invitational

While I have people together I would also like to have the first planning
meeting for the 2006 State Marching Band Festival and Waukee Marching
Invitational to held at Waukee on October 14, 2006.  This will be our fourth
year of hosting the State Marching Band Festival at Waukee and second year
for the WMI.  Please come and be a part of the planning process for these 2
exciting events.  These events have also been a great fundraiser for the
organization bringing in over $5,000 for the day.

Again please come participate in the planning process.


I wanted to get this out and let you get it on your calendars and I will
provide the location for the meeting soon.
