Waukee Bands Memorial Day 2006 Visit Waukee Schools

Volunteers

Jan Maltby, Volunteer Coordinator

Thank you for your support of Waukee Bands!

We need your help with Warrior World and Marching Band this fall!

Warrior World

One of our major fund raisers is Warrior World.  This is our booth in which we sell Waukee Warrior clothing, stadium seats and other miscellaneous items.  We are open every Thursday at Waukee High School (we have a booth just south of the auditorium entrance) and we also sell at the Warrior Band Trailer at the south end of the football field near the brick concessions stand.  At the football games, we are open from 5 PM until the end of the varsity football game.

On Thursdays, we need someone to set up around 2:30 PM and open the booth from 3-5 PM.

Of Fridays, we need someone to set up around 4:30 and open the booth by 5:00 PM.

This year, we have permission to keep the trailer at the football field for the whole season.  This way, set up will be much easier than in the past.

As I mentioned above, this is the major fund raiser for the band each year.

We will need 1 person for Thursdays and approximately 8 people to work the Friday booth.  We will need another 45 parents per event to handle all of the field equipment (I'll send out the "roadie" sign up sheet later).

Please select all your dates and time slots and send me an e-mail at teammaltby@msn.com so I can fill in the spread sheet.

Marching Band

I hope you can all open the excel spread sheet above. I have listed all the events this fall. I will need you to all to help and to help often. Earlier, we asked you to complete the time and talent sheets. These are used as a list to call when I can't fill the slots via the e-mail. I work outside the home, as do most of you. When I send out the request, your response with the times and dates you prefer is very much appreciated. I'll send you a response to let you know that I have you on the list. Sometimes your preferred slot is filled and I will send a note with an alternative. Just let me know if that time will work.

This year, we will have a castle wall in the show. Therefore, we will need about 18 people for the pit, 5 for sound, 4 for flag changing tents/walls, and 15 for props for a total of 42. (This is over and above the 8 we need for Warrior World.) Since the pit travels one direction for warm-ups, we'll have the uniform crew also help with props and flag tents/walls.

We wear black shirts/sweat shirts and jeans. This year, we'll have each person do the same thing all season. If someone cannot help all season, then we'll fill the slots with people who want to help occasionaly. We deeply appreciate all help, any time!

If your children are 7th grade or older and they want to help, we will gladly put them to work. We'll have them help you - for example, some of the carts require 2 people to steer and push. If your children are 6th grade or younger, we'll have them stay on the sidelines during the performance so they won't get "run over" by the carts going on and off the field. We believe this will keep everyone involved safe and healthy.

We'll send out the volunteer schedule for the State Marching Contest and Waukee Invitational in September. This will be for all the extra volunteers needed to run the event that are in addition to the "Roadies."

Please select all your dates and time slots and send me an e-mail at teammaltby@msn.com so I can fill in the spread sheet.
